Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food Magazines repurposed into my kitchen decor!

Earlier this year I realized my Martha Stewart Everyday Food Magazine subscription was piling up. I’ve been a subscriber for a few years and love getting every issue in the mail. The recipes are always easy and seasonal, and the photography is amazing – if nothing else – and inspires me to try new things all the time.

But one can only keep so many magazines around the house, although I was reluctant to simply throw them out (i.e. recycle).  I came up with the idea to redecorate one of my kitchen chairs. I have some unfinished birch chairs from Ikea and they make for the perfect canvas….

I started by cutting out all my favourite images from some of the old magazines, and basically made a collage on the chair using mod podge glue.

With a little bit of glue, alot of time, and some great food imagery, I managed to cover every bit of my chair!  I sprayed it with a varnish layer to polish it off at the end, and make it more durable for regular use.

I’m pretty proud of this piece! While I mostly enjoy my time cooking and baking in the kitchen, I also like to be crafty outside the kitchen too; and love that this piece happens to be all about food as well.

Here’s a look at the final piece:

Now I have three other unfinished chairs in my apartment. I’m debating how to redecorate them as well, any ideas?

      Hi Dyanne,
I do not formally organize others, but I have never considered it to be honest. Are you based in the Greater Vancouver area? I am not sure how I could be of help. Thanks for your comment though, I am flattered!
